Good things come in 3’s

They say things happen in 3’s and this has certainty been the case for Hertfordshire’s race ace David Pittard, as he progressed to the next round of the Peugeot Racing Experience. was nominated for Sports Personality of the year and most importantly confirms his 2013 racing season.

David, who is the 2012 Britcar Class 4 Champion. started off the week at Bedford Autodrome where he competed against some of the UK’s best drivers for the d’lance to compete in the Nurburgring 24hr race in a race prepared Peugeot 208 Gti.

“The 208Gti Racing Experience was a unique experience.” Said the Brunei University student, who is currently on a work placement with Mclaren. “309 people had 1 chance to set as fast a time as they could in a 208 Vti around a modified Bedford Autodrome Circuit. It was unique because there was so little track time and you had no idea on how well your run was. and how well others had done, so when asked how well I did I really didn’t know! There were some big names also at the event. In my group was British Touring Car Independent Champion Andy Jordan!'”

“Fortunately the lap went well setting a time that put me 3rd overalL The lap didn’t start well however as I selected 4th gear instead of 2nd out the first corner! But the rest of the tap was rapid! A great experience and I’m very thankful for Peugeot for the opportunity this now presents.”

David now heads to the La Fette Gaucher circuit on the 4th of March where another test awaits him, following which 1 driver from each of the 8 participating countries will be chosen for the 2 car team in the formidable Nurburgring 24 Hour race.

With hardly the chance to take a breath, David then headed to the Comet Sport Awards held in his local county of Hertfordshire, where he was nominated for Sports Personality.

“My second event for the week was the Comet Sports Awards. It was fantastic to be recognised for my achievements both on and off the track in the local community. It was a fantastic event hosted by local Sky F1 commentator David Croft who really made the evening. Unfortunately I didn’t come away with the award but Paratympic badminton player Gobi Ranganathan was a well deserved winner. Again it was a great networking opportunity in which I was able to get to know the other finalists and chat to ‘Crofty’ who was very supportive.

“Congratulations once again to the Comet Newspaper for putting on such a great event and I hope to be invited back next year”

Lastly and most importantly David Pittard and his sponsors Nationwide Driver Supply, GDSP & Bailey’s Travel are delighted to confirm that he will be competing in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge in a joint venture between Strata21 and Scuderia Vittoria, named ‘SV21’.

The championship takes place over a 21 race season as a support race for the renowned British F3/GT package and with it attracts TV coverage from Motors TV.

Speaking at the announcement on Thursday David commented ” I’m very please to be associated with such a high profile team for 2013, the setup is perfect and I would like to thank Nationwide Driver Supply for making this deal possible.

“We have a strong line up this year and I’m really looking forward to racing with Alex, I think we will both prove to be very competitive”

Commenting on the formation of SV21, Scuderia Vittoria Director Piers Masarati is sure that David can propel SV21 into Championship contention in its first season of affiliation.

“I think that both drivers [Alex & David] will be very impressive during their first season in the series, and we expect to be right up there challenging for the title as the year concludes”

The Ginetta GT5 Challenge will get underway on Saturday, 30th March, as support to the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Oulton Park.
